Summary
Abstract indicates that this article studies the impact of software patents on a firm's entry/exit in 27 classes of software products. The study finds that firms are less likely to enter into a class where there are already software patents, however if a firm already has patents there is an increased likelihood that it will enter the class. The authors conclude that "holding patents appears to enhance the survival prospects of firms after entering a market. "
